Tsuneishi Shipbuilding is empowering young talent in Timor-Leste with Cadmatic
Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Tsuneishi) is paving the way for a new generation of engineers and designers in Timor-Leste by integrating Cadmatic software into its training programs. This initiative reflects Tsuneishi’s commitment to equipping local talent with world-class tools and expertise, as the company lays the foundation for a sustainable shipbuilding industry in the region.
Transforming potential into expertise
As part of its plans to establish a new shipyard in Timor-Leste, Tsuneishi has been training approx. 20 new employees, many of whom are recent graduates in engineering fields such as civil, mechanical, and electrical. The program provides hands-on experience with Cadmatic, starting from the basics and progressing to complex ship design and modeling. Led by experienced trainers from Tsuneishi’s Philippine office, the program is designed to ensure that trainees quickly develop confidence in using 2D and 3D tools.

“The clarity of the 3D visuals has made teaching highly effective and engaging,” said one of the trainers.
The training is more than technical. Trainees learn to collaborate effectively across teams, applying their skills in practical scenarios that mimic real-world design challenges. This holistic approach ensures they are ready to contribute to Timor-Leste’s emerging shipbuilding sector.
Gaining deeper understanding of ship structures and layouts
The integration of Cadmatic software has been a key success factor of the program. Trainees use the powerful 3D modeling tools to understand ship structures and equipment layouts, even in areas with limited internet access. Cadmatic’s user-friendly interface and collaboration features enable efficient teamwork and accurate design outputs, helping trainees identify and resolve design issues faster.
“Cadmatic makes complex designs easy to understand and ensures smooth collaboration across teams,” noted one trainee.

Building a bright shipbuilding future together
This training initiative aligns with Tsuneishi’s vision to make Timor-Leste their third overseas shipyard. By equipping young professionals with advanced tools and knowledge, Tsuneishi and Cadmatic are empowering individuals while fostering economic growth in the region.
