CADMATIC is proud to announce that Ludmila Seppälä, Director, Business Development (Marine) at CADMATIC won the award for the best paper submitted at the 2021 Conference on Computer Applications and Information Technology in the Maritime Industries (COMPIT).

The paper titled 3D Model – Technology Island in Ship Design or a Central Piece for Shipbuilding Project Data? focuses on the link between 3D models, digital twin technologies, mixed-reality technologies, ship design, and production.

COMPIT 2021 was held in Mülheim, Germany from 9-10 August. The conference focused on information about advanced IT applications for the lifecycle of ships. Topics such as digital twins, artificial intelligence, virtual & augmented reality, and autonomous shipping, amongst others, were discussed by the participants.

The jury selected the paper from a shortlist of 27 others, highlighting the “clarity of the paper, presenting advanced work representing the leading edge of technology in an unpretentious and concise manner” as some of the reasons for the award.

According to COMPIT, this is the 14th time that an outstanding scientist has been presented with the COMPIT Award at this prestigious conference.
