Cadmatic
Version 5.2 was released on 29 June 2007 to all direct customers and
resellers. Indirect customers will receive the software in August 2007.
The release includes many detail level improvements as well as a few
totally new design tools, especially in the Plant Modeller module.
The most significant changes are the introduction of
specification-driven cable tray routing, online collision control, the
possibility to use laser-scanned point clouds, advanced 3D reference
model management and new rotating working views.
In Version
5.2 cable trays are handled in a completely new way. The software
includes native support for cable trays that are modelled with
specification-driven design rules. It is much easier to control design
components and the trays model more realistically than in previous
versions. Online collision control is glued into pipe and cable tray
routing, bringing added efficiency and user friendliness. Any collisions
with steel plating or other objects are immediately highlighted and the
designer can immediately make the necessary changes.
Laser scanning produces point clouds that have traditionally been
converted to 3D model primitives through manual modelling and
processed separately before being imported into Cadmatic. In Version 5.2
the point clouds can be imported directly into Cadmatic.
The Import
Manager imports 3D reference models from Autocad and other software in an
intelligent way in V5.2. When changes are made to a model and imported
into Cadmatic, the Import Manager is able to detect which geometries
have been modified in the model and only the necessary updates to the
current model are done.
