9/1/2002 - CADMATIC 3D SOFTWARE USED IN MILL ENGINEERING OF CARTIERE BURGO LWC- PAPER MILL INVESTMENTS back to news

A new paper mill for Cartiere Burgo S.p.A. is going up in Verzuolo, Italy. Once commissioned in December 2001 it will be one of the largest in the world. Companies called Metso Paper Inc. and Jaakko Pöyry Oy have been involved with the project.

For Metso this project is the largest turnkey in its history. Both companies have used earlier Cadmatic 3D- software and the good experience made them to choose again Cadmatic as a co-worker. The result has pleased all participants including Cartiere Burgo. Jaakko Pöyry Oy has used Cadmatic 3D modelling in a number of design and engineering projects. The company has found Cadmatic a functional and efficient tool and the Project Manager Harri Sjögren has been happy with both software and the technical support in this particular project. Jaakko Pöyry Oy has been involved both in the project development in co-operation with Cartiere Burgo and in the plant design and engineering work commissioned directly by the client and Metso Paper Inc.

Metso had experience of Cadmatic in the Rautpohja projects but this Cartiere Burgo placed a special emphasis on the role of 3D design. Regular 3D model reviews inspected the progress and the accuracy of the design. Cadmatic was noticed to be an excellent tool for extensive projects involving various parties. With integrated design work and a special process for detecting collisions, many problems were avoided.

People in Cartiere Burgo Verzuolo were amazed of the WalkAround features of Cadmatic 3D software. Their comment was that the model represents the highest level of design, the art of design. And best of all it is easy to use. For the technical designer the program brings visual hand to describe the concept of plans. In the whole project Cadmatic's database driven and intelligent 3D model improves essentially engineering data management. The data in 3D model is used during the whole life cycle of the large investment, from the first sketch to the maintenance and operation phase of the mill. Mika Liinanotko, Project Manager of Valmet-Raisio noticed that the program forces the designer to think three-dimensionally. Valmet-Raisio supplied the process lines of the coating kitchen and this delivery is the largest ever exported for the company. Kymtec Oy designed the coating kitchen for the paper mill and they were also required to use Cadmatic 3D. It was the first time when the company was in contact with a 3D-plant design system. The designers were trained by Cadmatic in periods and Kymtec found the support from Cadmatic excellent.
