For the past six years, designers at the headquarters of the Belgian based Drever Group, a worldwide leader of heat processing equipment for the metallurgical industry, have used Cadmatic in their work.
Established in the 1930s in Belgium, The Drever Group is, in many ways, a pioneer. Many of the innovations developed by Drever are today recognized as industry standards. Proven design experience, cutting-edge technology and process know-how are Drever's competitive advantages. With a staff of 150, The Drever Group's turnover amounted to 90 million euros in 2000.
Drever supplies galvanizing facilities for the metallurgical industry. In Finland, for example, the Rautaruukki plant in Hämeenlinna was supplied by Drever. This 400,000 tonne galvanizing plant was commissioned in summer 2000. Rautaruukki is one of the most internationally operating European steel companies, and its business is largely based on its own steel production. With an emphasis on steel processing, Rautaruukki has product manufacturing in 14 countries all over Europe.
Operating on five continents
Pipe Support Designer is a software module that has been developed for modelling the primary and secondary supports of pipings and for generating the corresponding documentation. Using the module, the designers will be able to significantly reduce the time needed for the design of supports, thus making the process more efficient and enhancing the quality.
The Drever Group operates on five continents, principally in Belgium (Europe), the USA (North America), China and Japan (Asia), and South Africa (Africa). At the Group's headquarters in Belgium, Cadmatic software has been actively used for the past six years. Now, Drever is extending its use to other locations, too. The first overseas location to adopt Cadmatic software is Beijing Drever in China. In Belgium, Cadmatic software is routinely used by about 15 designers, utilizing all levels from PI schemes to detailed 3D modelling and plant design.
Efficient tool for piping design
"Before making our choice, we carefully evaluated various software products. Cadmatic is a highly efficient tool for the 3D design of piping, especially for the purposes of generating isometrics and documentation for production and installation", explains Tran Quang-Duc at Drever, Belgium.
"We have successfully completed about twenty large-scale projects using Cadmatic, and have been extremely happy with the software. Its open architecture allows smooth integration into our own ERP environment, enhancing the project and material management in particular, and also into other design systems", Tran adds.
For many of our customers, AutoCAD compatibility and high-standard AutoCAD images are essential. In these terms, Cadmatic manages well. The first Chinese designers to use Cadmatic were trained at the headquarters in Belgium in summer 2001, and the first Cadmatic project is about to begin in China.
