Cadmatic provides efficient tools for all stages of the process
and plant design. Specification driven design is based on
user-defined design rules, standards and pipe classification.

| Process design is the basis for plant design | |

Cadmatic's plant design software features an intelligent two-directional
link between the process diagrams and the 3D model. Graphic process
flow diagrams (PFDs), process and instrument diagrams
(P&IDs), as well as intelligent symbols are linked to the database and the
3D model. The link keeps track on the changes between the process and
plant design.

The designers build up a three-dimensional model of the plant.
One 3D model comprises all components, including machines and equipment,
pipelines and piping supports, ducts, cable trays, as well as steel
and concrete structures. Cadmatic's user interface for 3D modelling
is extremely easy to use. The user can smoothly change over from
the traditional 2D design to 3D modelling. The system provides
collision control and data updates between designers.

Since piping design plays a key role in plant design projects, this area has
received particular attention in the software development. Specification-driven and pipeline-based
routing is the basis of piping design. The system automatically
selects the appropriate materials and correct connector types.
Once the designer has defined the routes, the routing proceeds
quickly and accurately. Unlike in many other systems, there is no
need to assemble the pipeline piece by piece, but the system is
capable of selecting the components automatically without
interrupting the routing process.

Documentation is integrated with the Cadmatic 3D model and design
database in an intelligent manner. All documents are generated automatically
and without further effort from the 3D model. Isometric pipeline
drawings are dimensioned and labeled automatically. Plan, section
and axonometric drawings, as well as different system-specific drawings of a
desired area are easily produced. Labels, axes and other details
are inserted automatically.

Cadmatic features easy-to-use and efficient tools for the
management of changes. The existing 3D models are easy to edit,
and it is possible to begin the design work by using preliminary
data. Layout and piping geometry are easy also easy to edit. The
system updates documentation in a controlled manner, ensuring that
the project documentation is always complete and up-to-date.
